Hello All

We've had low to moderate response from the Mira community, but it is our goal to continue to try and give the best volunteer service as board members to keep the association going.  Unfortunately, the retention rate is low for board members, but we desperately need help.

Volunteers

We are looking for additional board members.  We currently have a 2 member board and it is necessary that we have three or more per the Declaration.  Serving as a board member is a great opportunity to make a difference for your community.  If you are interested in joining the board please complete the enclosed nomination form you received in the mail and return it to SUHRCO.

If you would like to get more information on board member's responsibilities, please us know.

As the President of the board I am trying to spread out the responsibilities so not just one person is overwhelmed with too much responsibility.  This is where we came up with the idea of a 'committee' (project) system.  This allows people with special skills and or interest in one particular area to help MiRa.

Currently, we are looking for someone with a background in Finance, who can help us.  We have a great management company who does a lot of the day to day operations, but I think it would be wise to have someone keep an eye on this for MiRa.

There are always a lot of projects going on, and having people help with little projects here and there really help.  Please contact us if you have a free moment to help us with a project.

Pool/Hot Tub

The Pool and Hot Tub will be ready for use this summer.  We project that everything will be up and running to code for Memorial Day Weekend (May 28th 2010).  YAY!  A special thanks to Mr. Partin of our complex and our management company representative Mr. Scheel for making sure this project got completed.

Cabana

With the help of a Mr. Davis of our community, we will be converting the cabana into a gym.  Unfortunately, we have a limited budget and we will have to build on it every year.  This year's focus will be on converting the space for a small community gym.  We will be removing some walls to open the space.  Adding new flooring and getting a new lock/door system that will allow each resident access with a key card.  This will help protect and monitor who will be using the facility, and protect from vandalism and theft.  We are only able to buy a few pieces of equipment for the first year since most of the funds will be used to convert the space.  Commercial grade equipment is more expensive than we all originally thought and we want to do this right.  That being said, if anyone has any equipment or items for the community to use on a short or long term basis, please let us know.

LandScaping and Stepping Stones

If you haven't noticed yet, please take a moment to appreciate the beautiful spring color our landscapers have planted at our entry ways and around the community.

We also had new bark blown around the grounds to help with the bare-naked landscape that needed touching up.

Personally, I take pride in our community and I hope you share the sentiments that having a well groomed community is important.

We are now in the process of strategically placing uniform stepping stones around the complex.  If you have any special requests please let us know so we can make sure you get the stepping stones placed where you most frequently traffic.  We will do our best to have forward thinking but your help would be appreciated.  Ms. Shockley of our community has agreed to help us with this project.  To find the best deal for the association, and find an aesthetically pleasing plus uniform look for the complex.

Construction Defect Update

The construction defect claim has not yet settled.  At the November 2009 mediation, we reached a tentative settlement subject to approval by a large pension fund who is a major investor in the group that developed Mira Condominium.  We are still awaiting the pension fund's approval of the settlement, which we expect at any time.  In the interim, we are continuing to move forward with the lawsuit.

From both Jhansi Reddy and me (Jessica Gray) as board members and neighbors, thank you for making MiRa the beautiful and friendly place it is..

Sincerely,
Mira Board
